Nya Forum Medicum samlar fakultetens alla vårdutbildningar under ett tak.Vad tycker studenterna om det? Vi pratade med Emily Ljungqvist, ordförande för Medicinska föreningen (MF), och Elin Andrén, ordförande i Sydsvenska Sjukgymnastinstitutet (SSGI) om deras förväntningar och farhågor inför invigningen 2023.
Emily: Det kommer att bli mer naturligt att lära känna varandra över programgränserna när alla utbildningar samlas under ett och samma tak.
Elin: Jag hoppas att det är någonting som vi ska kunna ta med oss ut i våra arbeten i våra yrken. Jag ska inte säga att det är en stor ett stort glapp mellan olika professionerna ute i arbetslivet nu, men det finns en viss distans till varandra, så jag hoppas att vi istället för att tala om varandra, ska tala med varandra, och lära av varandra, och hjälpa varandra. För jag tror vi har otroligt mycket att lära av varandra som både utbildningen och vi själva kan ha nytta av.
Som kårordförande är ni representerade i fakultetens Forum Medicum-grupp. Vilka frågor tycker ni är viktiga?
Elin: Vi tycker det ska finnas skåp till våra studenter. Vi kommer att få jättefina studieplatser där, men om man har tentaperioder och man har mycket tunga böcker så känns det inte jättemotiverat att släpa med sig dem fram och tillbaka, man kanske hellre stannar kvar hemma och studerar istället för att utnyttja skolans platser och ta hjälp av sina vänner. Vi vill ju att Fourm Medicum ska vara en slags mötespunkt.
Emily: Att man ser till att det finns både tysta studieplatser och studieplatser där man kan sitta i grupp, och att det finns öppna studieplatser där man kan sitta ute i själva forumet, så att det finns variation som ska passa alla. Och att de inte är för få, för nu kommer ju alla studenter att vara i samma byggnad. Vi blir ju ändå omkring 2 700 studenter… Det krävs att det finns tillräckligt med studieplatser.
Elin: Jag tänker också på lärosalarna där de har fokuserat mer på ”active learning” istället för de klassiska klassrummen. Vi studenter är ganska måna om att den övergången till active learning ska bli så smärtfri som möjligt.
Emily: Det kräver att lärarna är utbildade i att lära ut i active learning-salar och att de får den högskolepedagogiska utbildningen som krävs istället för den vanliga katederundervisningen.
Forum Medicum ska vara klart 2023. Är ni själva kvar då?
Elin: Det ska bli så kul att se när det är klart. Jag är nog klar innan det är klart, tyvärr. Jag har ett år kvar, så vi får se om jag hittar på någonting så jag får skriva min kandidatuppsats på de här fina studieplatserna…!
Emily: Jag tycker det ska bli roligt att få se hur det ser ut när det är klart. Vi får se om det blir klart i tid. Men jag tar inte examen förrän januari 2025, så även om det drar ut på tiden så är jag redo!

How do the students see Forum Medicum?
The new Forum Medicum brings together all the faculty’s nursing courses and study programmes under one roof.
What do the students think of it? We talked to Emily Ljungqvist, President of Medicinska föreningen (MF), and Elin Andrén, President of Sydsvenska Sjukgymnastinstitutet (SSGI) about their expectations and concerns leading up to the building’s inauguration in 2023.
Emily: “It will be more natural to get to know each other across programme boundaries when all the courses and study programmes are assembled under one roof.”
Elin: “I hope that’s something that we will be able to take with us into our professional lives. I’m not going to say there’s a big gap between different professions out there in the working world, but there’s a certain distance between us all, so I hope that instead of talking about each other, we’ll talk to each other, and learn from each other, and help each other. Because I think we have an incredible amount to learn from each other, and it can benefit both our education and ourselves.
As student union presidents, you are represented in the faculty’s Forum Medicum group. What questions do you think are important?
Elin: “We think there should be lockers for our students. We will have great places to study there, but if you have exam periods and you have very heavy books, it doesn’t feel very sensible to drag them back and forth; you might decide to study at home instead of taking advantage of places at school and getting help from your friends. We want Forum Medicum to be a kind of meeting point.”
Emily: “That they make sure that there are both quiet places to study and places where you can sit in groups, and that there are open places to study where you can sit out in the forum itself, so that there’s a variety of options that should suit everyone. And that there aren’t too few places, because now all the students will be in the same building. After all, we’re about 2,700 students…there have to be enough places to study.”
Elin: “I’m also thinking about the classrooms, where they’ve focused more on ‘active learning’ instead of the classical classrooms. We students are quite keen to ensure that the transition to active learning will be as painless as possible.”
Emily: “This demands that teachers be trained in teaching in active learning spaces, and that they receive the necessary higher education training instead of the usual teacher-centre teaching.”
Forum Medicum should be ready by 2023. Will you still be here?
Elin: It’ll be so neat to see it when it’s finished. Unfortunately I think I’ll be done before it is. I have a year left, so we’ll see if I can find something, so that I can write my bachelor’s thesis while sitting in these lovely places to study!”
Emily: “I think it’ll be cool to see what it looks like when it’s done. We’ll see if it’s done in time. But I’m not graduating until January 2025, so even if it drags on, I’m ready and waiting!”
